Getting sleep

Headaches and sleep are cozy bedfellows. They're all tangled in the covers together, too: the pain from headaches can lead to sleeplessness, and sleeplessness can lead to headaches.

If you have insomnia, you may be depriving your body of more than rest. True sleep deprivation can cause stress and, worse, a weakened immune system and vulnerability to more illness. Read the list of tip-offs that you're not getting enough sleep. And if you're not getting the Z's you need, there's also a list of ways to tuck in for your full eight hours.

Sleeplessness may not be the definitive cause of your headaches, but a good night's sleep can be the rejuvenation a body in pain really needs.
